One of the factors contributing to the rising popularity of lab-grown diamonds has been their affordability, which allows more people who could not previously afford a piece of diamond jewellery to own one. In addition, given that they are thought to be more ethical and sustainable than diamonds that are mined, they appear to be the industry’s answer to improving the reputation of diamonds.
Younger generations of British consumers are becoming more concerned about climate change, and they are increasingly drawn to products that have a commitment to sustainability. For instance, according to Euromonitor International’s Voice of the Consumer: Lifestyles survey 2023, 14% of UK Millennials stated that one of the important factors when buying apparel and personal accessories is that products are produced sustainably.
