Retail volume sales of baby and child-specific products are expected to continue to decline in the forecast period, due to the falling population aged 0-11 in Poland. Forecasts predict that between 2021 and 2027, the number of children under the age of three will decrease by more than 15%.
Many parents prefer to purchase baby and child-specific products in which they already have trust, especially well-known international brands such as Pampers and Nivea Baby. However, in 2023 private label already accounted for a significant share of value sales, especially in baby wipes, and in the forecast period it is poised to capture an even larger share of value sales, due to the introduction of more sophisticated products, which will challenge established brands.
Despite seeing a slowdown in value growth in 2021 and 2022, in 2023 retail e-commerce returned to a stronger increase, and this distribution channel holds considerable potential for further expansion in the forecast period. Many parents have grown accustomed to purchasing baby essentials such as nappies/diapers and baby wipes online, attracted by the convenience of home delivery and competitive pricing.
