Edible oils, as a product area, is expected to experience a slight decline, primarily due to the negative trend in olive oil. This decline can be attributed to the anticipated slow recovery in Italian, Spanish, and other Mediterranean countries' production, resulting in the retention of retail prices at higher levels (as per information shared in trade interviews).
The ban on the import of Ukrainian grain, including sunflower seeds, has significantly disrupted sunflower oil processors. The Oilseed Oil Producers Association in Bulgaria has stated the necessity of importing Ukrainian sunflower to operate at full capacity, achieve lower costs, and remain competitive in the foreign market.
Other edible oils, such as flaxseed oil, pumpkin seed oil, nut oil, and coriander oil, are expected to show the most significant percentage growth, albeit on a limited scale. Their development will be driven by the increasing health trends related to the proven benefits of plant-based oils in promoting good cholesterol levels and minimizing the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases.
