Sunflower oil and rapeseed oil are set to remain the most popular edible oils in Lithuania over the forecast period. Though olive oil had been making gains over the review period, the high inflation of the last two years has made consumers much more price sensitive and olive oil has lost its gains.
Private label has a sizeable value share in edible oil in Lithuania, with supermarket chain Maxima, being the biggest player. Maxima continues to invest in private label and its lower quality private brands such as Optima Linija and Favorit, are being replaced by the higher quality brand Well Done, which has offerings in sunflower, rapeseed and sesame oil, with an olive also predicted to be launched.
Edible oils are a mature product area, dominated by rapeseed and sunflower oil. Over the forecast period, innovation will centre on introducing segmentation such as by adding value-added benefits such as vitamins.
