Sunflower oil will remain under pressure in the forecast period as the shortage of raw materials reduces availability and higher prices prevails. This will lead to a decrease in sunflower oil consumption with consumers looking for alternatives, such as olive oil, canola oil (which is produced in Serbia) as well as other affordable substitutes like palm oil.
Consumer’s price sensitivity will continue to weigh heavily on the purchasing decisions of edible oils in the upcoming period, with household budgets remaining under pressure and the rising price of edible oils encouraging consumers to look for better prices. Brand loyalty is forecasted to decrease as Serbians look for better prices.
Olive oil and other edible oils are forecasted to continue increasing retail volume and value shares in the upcoming period. The increasing interest in healthier diets and healthier lifestyles that swept through the Serbian population towards the end of the review period is expected to bring more consumers into olive oil and other edible oils.
