Edible oils will remain a staple in food preparation for the foreseeable future in Kazakhstan as they are competitively priced compared with other alternatives such as butter. A slowdown in inflationary processes in 2023 and the consequent price decline for sunflower oil will contribute to category growth in volume terms, especially for unrefined oil.
The country’s strong and historic logistical connections with Russia and Ukraine have become more complex and, as a result, sunflower oil production was hampered. However, with the efforts of local manufacturers and the government, it is anticipated that logistics and supply challenges will be overcome during the forecast period and local production will continue its sustainable development.
The production of vegetable oils, such as refined and unrefined soybean oils, is also anticipated to develop over the forecast period. Whilst the total volume will remain insignificant, dynamic growth is expected in the period to 2028.

Excludes: Unpackaged/bulk oils, i.e. instances where consumers bring an empty container or plastic bag to be (re)filled with cooking oil. Example: Minyak curah in Indonesia.
