Domestic brands will continue to emphasise their domestic origins during the forecast period. This is a strong strategy, as domestic origin remains a strong trend, with Finnish consumers trusting the quality of domestic products and being eager to support the local economy and employment.
The private label segment is enjoying increasing consumer interest in Finland and more sophisticated edible oils are being offered. For example, the trusted Pirkka line by the retailing giant, Kesko, includes such products as the organic extra virgin olive oil, Pirkka Luomu ekstra-neitsytoliiviöljy, and extra virgin garlic-chili flavoured olive oil under its more premium, Pirkka Parhaat (Pirkka Best) private label range.
Finnish consumers are becoming increasingly interested in sustainability. Domestic manufacturers, in particular, are working to address this issue, pointing out that purchasing local products also guarantees greater sustainability.
