It is expected that prevailing health and wellbeing trends will continue to attract consumers to olive oil over the forecast period, with opportunities for this category to gain excellent growth from its current relatively-low base. Government drives and promotions will continue, as will the abolition of trans-fat content from processed foods.
Vegetable and seed oils will continue to account for a notable share in edible oils, in both retail and foodservice. Notably, the revival of foodservice is boosting edible oils overall, with vegetable and seed oils essential components of the industry.
Due to the rise in online shopping for groceries, as bolstered by the era of the pandemic, edible oils enjoy an increased presence in e-commerce as they form part of consumers’ regular shopping basket. Moreso, consumers who embrace online shopping are often those who also seek certain premium items which they can obtain for good prices online – such as olive oil.
