Sports nutrition looks set to perform positively throughout the forecast period, with all categories expected to expand at a robust pace in volume and current value terms. Demand will continue to be bolstered by increasing participation in sports and fitness activities in Hungary.
Protein/energy bars is projected to be the fastest developing sports nutrition category in volume and current value growth terms over the forecast period. While this is partly because sales are increasing from a comparatively low base, it will also continue to profit from the fact that these products have the potential to appeal to a much wider audience than other types.
With favourable growth prospects likely to attract new entrants and encourage established manufacturers to expand their portfolios, sports nutrition should continue to witness a high level of innovation over the forecast period. Sports non-protein products is anticipated to be one of the most active areas in this regard, as it is not as mature as sports protein products and its assortment has historically been relatively underdeveloped.
