Beekeepers and honey producers are appealing to the EU Commission to reconsider its legislative guidelines on honey labelling. The argument being that international honey makers who produce blends of honey (by combining honey from various sources and countries) have a competitive advantage - for example, due to having lower procurement costs while being able to take advantage of “made in” logos).
Within retail distribution channels, discounters, supermarkets and hypermarkets have been gaining share in 2023. However, as purchasing power of Slovak households will inevitably improve during the course of the forecast period, consumers will be increasingly shopping at smaller nearby stores, such as convenience stores or health food stores, for example, which suffered during the pandemic and after due to the rising price sensitivity of Slovak consumers.
